Working with customers to manage their water needs

Friday 17 March, 2017

As the end of irrigation season is getting closer we’re beginning to see an increase in demand for irrigation water during autumn.

So far this season, GMW has delivered 570GL to customers in the Goulburn Murray Irrigation District (GMID) compared to 826GL delivered same time last year.   GMID customers still have over 1,000 GL available to use.  With continuing warm weather, and the approaching end of season, we’re working closely with our customers to ensure their delivery needs are met.

To assist in the efficient planning of irrigation deliveries, customers have the ability to order 10 days in advance. We ask that customers give as much notice as possible (within the 10 days) for deliveries and be flexible with their start times.

Where irrigation water demand exceeds channel delivery capacity for an extended period, we may be required to implement a ration cycle. This ensures all customers receive a fair supply as we manage this congestion.

If customers have any questions we encourage them to contact their planner on 1300 469 469.
