Andrew Melverton is a fresh face at GMW and already proving a valuable member of the Kyabram team.
As a Customer Service Officer, Andrew said his first three months on the job has included working with customers to resolve queries, monitoring channels, checking assets, spraying weeds, learning about the irrigation district and a range of other tasks.
“My role is a mixed bag – at the moment we’ve been checking regulators in the area, things like batteries, cleaning the sensors and solar panels,” he said.
“We might visit 10 in a day. Ninety-five per cent of my time has been spent in the field.
“It’s good to be out and about for a change. I used to work at a food factory in Tatura as a forklift worker and factory hand, and that was all indoors.”
Andrew said he’s been learning the ropes of monitoring channels and heading out with other staff to see what they do.
He has lived in the Goulburn Valley all his life – and when he’s not checking a channel you might find him enjoying the great outdoors.
“It would probably be fishing, camping or playing cricket. I’ve also got four year-old twins so it’s double trouble,” he said.
Andrew worked at the Kyabram Free Press for 13 years and completed a seven-year stint at the food factory before joining GMW.
